Sam would like to send Christmas greetings to all his friends and relatives who view his page, particularly Aunty Stephanie, Uncle Marcus and cousin Shannon in England; in Perth - big sister Catherine, niece Sienna, and big brother-in-law Peter; Auntie Georgie and cousin Hannah, Nanna Stevie and Poppy Robinson; and In Vanuatu, Nanna Cas and Peter. He will be having his first Christmas this year and will be spending it at home before heading off for a few days to see Mum and Dad's Godson Fletcher, his brother Oliver and Mum Genevieve near Warrnambool, where they will bring in the new century. He misses his rellies in Western Australia and in England but he will see uncle Greg and Auntie Nita in Melbourne, and cousins Chris and Kerry; and third-cousin Mark, Shirley and fourth-cousins Callum and baby Imogen.

DECEMBER 1999
Sam took his first real steps on 14 December, walking several metres to greet Mum at the door. It was so wonderful to see, although Mum and Dad would have liked him to have crawled for a bit longer as it better for his development.

Getting down to nature - Sam and Mum in big brother-in-law's canola fields, near Calingiti, Westyern Australia; and admiring the wild flowers on the property.

OCTOBER 1999
Sam had his first airplane flight in September, heading over to Perth with Dad to see big sister Catherine, Aunty Georgie, cousin Hannah, Nanna Stevie, and Poppa. he had a great flight, and was whisked away from Dad by three flight attendants who adored him. Mum came over a week later after school finished. In Western Australia, Sam stayed with Nanna Stevie and Poppa Robinson in Scarborough, and also had a week at Dunsborough south of Perth with Mum, Dad, sister Catherine and neice Sienna; and also a few days at big sister Catherine and Peter's wheat property near Calingiri, about 100 km north of Perth.

AUGUST 1999
Sam was six months old on 22 August. We bought a sponge cake with half a candle but it was not a pleasant day as both Mum and Dad came down with a virus. Sam is fine however. He is onto solids, has started crawling - more like a stomach shuffle - and is jabbering away. It won't be long before he is reciting Shakespeare. Mum said his first tooth had come through. Dad didn't believe it and put his finger in Sam's mouth. The finger is healing well. Sam is starting to assert himself and makes it known when he is not happy, but rarely cries, preferring to grunt if he needs attention. Perhaps living in the country is getting to him!!

This is Sam's beautiful cousin Hannah, daughter of Auntie Georgi in Fremantle, Western Australia. Sam will meet Hannah for the first time when he travels to Perth in September with Mum and dad.
