... | The boy is growing up - a ball of laughs at times, and then the two-year-old-tantrums will kick in for a moment. Its all part of growing up. He is extremely observant, and copies anything we do. He loves his books, 'reading' them himself, and having them read to him. His favourite books are Green Eggs and Ham, by Dr Zuess, I Like Red the Best, and a wonderful books about animals on a bus that was sent to him by cousin Shaanon in London. We havn't introduced him to Wolfie-The Wolf Eel as that is a birthday surrprise. He understands a great deal of what is said to him and is starting to string a few words together. It won't be long before he is reading Shakespeare!!! |
The cubby is now finished, Sam was a great help - really. He knows the various tools and passes them to Dad as required. |
He loves to copy what Dad does and will get the hand saw or the
hammer or the spanner and uses them the appropriate way. The cubby was
built on top of eight concrete stumps that once used to hold two water
tanks. All the maaterial is scrap that Dad scounged, except for the flooring.
It is a great cubby, with a balcony and a slide. Sam has already taken
to it - usually with a hammer as he thinks we are still in construction
mode. The slide came from Diane and Ross Robinson, our friends who have
a dairy farm. Thankyou Di and Ross and the kids (who have out grown cubbiness)
- a crate of champagne is on its way when we all get back from holidays.
Bottom left: Sam and Dad had help building the cubby, from Oliver and Fletcher Whitely who came to visit over New Year. Fletcher is Dad and Mum's godson. They are great kids and had a ball helping to build the cubby and a table and chairs. |

Cousins Adam and Caitlin Russel came visiting twice during December. They live in Cobargo in NSW, but Adam will attend school in Melbourne next year as he wants to go on to do dramatic studies. He will make a fine actor. |

Oliver Whitely, with Sam and Yellow Bear. Oliver is great with Sam, and Sam adores him. Oliver and Fletcher will be like big brothers. |
What a great Christmas he had. The significance of the occasion is
lost but the opening of the presents made up for any spiritual deficiency.
Sam loved the waterwheel send over from Western Ausstralia by sister Catherine
and neice Sienna. He enjoyed Christmas Day with friends Angie Gitowsky,
Lyn Wilmott and son Delian. The xylophone was fun, after he realised it
could make a noise. Initially he had it upside down and was using it as
a skateboard.

The kinder closed early december after having their Christmas party.
All the kids were great - full of excitement and food. Sam sat next to
his best mate Ryan (in the yellow top). Ryan is a year older than Sam and
takes great care of him at kinder. It is wonderful to see them together.
Ryan is Sam's first friend of his own age.

Sam is off to Hamilton Island on 12 January for a ten day holiday with
Mum and Dad. Rest assurred there will be plenty of photos taken, and a
few more added to this site. Then , in Fenruary, big sister Catherine and
neice Sienna will be coming over from Western Australia. Catherine describes
Sienna as 'fiesty' so it could be an interesting time. Uncle Sam is just
two months older than Sienna. It will be lovely having the family together.
